What happened on October 28, 1940? The Italian government sent a telegram to Greece demanding the free passage of the Italian army through the Greco-Albanian border in order to subsequently occupy strategic points in Greece. The response of the Metaxas government to the telegram was negative.

This date was established to be celebrated in Greece every year as an official national holiday and day off. This collection honors the most significant event of the 20th century. World War II began with Germany’s attack on Poland on September 1, 1939. The war in Asia had already started on July 7, 1937. After 6 whole years of war, the weapons across Europe fell silent on May 8, 1945.
