This coin honors the famous Rodanthos egg. The original was created in 1895 by Michel Persen under the supervision of jeweler Peter Carl Faberge. It was given to Empress Alexandra Fedorova by Tsar Nicholas II of Russia. The lovely egg was created to remind the Empress of the yellow roses she missed so much in her homeland.
