A Last Supper was held between Jesus and the Twelve Apostles in Jerusalem one day before his Crucifixion. Today, this day is called Holy Wednesday. During the Last Supper, Christ washed his disciples’ feet and gave them his Body and Blood, saying to them: Take, eat this is my body, which is broken for you, for the forgiveness of sins, as well as: drink from it all: this is my blood of the new covenant, which is shed for you and for many. It is considered to be the first fresco in the history of art that depicts the Apostles each reacting in a different way to Jesus’ revelation that someone will betray him.
