The 2024 Ireland Tree of Life 1oz 999 Silver Bullion Medal ships in a protective coin capsule
The Silver Tree of Life (1 oz) is the first Irish silver medal. In August 2023, only 10,000 Silver Tree of Life were cut down and sold out. Silver Trees of Life 2024 (1oz) have a maximum mintage of 100,000.
Ériu, is one of the most powerful of the Irish Gods and her name is the modern Irish name for Ireland – Éire. Ériu is regarded as the patron goddess of the land, abundance and sovereignty of Ireland.
A Crann Bethadh as it was known to the Gaelic Irish and meaning Tree of Life or ‘Tree of Food’ in ancient Ireland. It was seen as vital to the very existence of humans. Trees were vital to everyday life as they provided shelter from rain, storms and sun, wood for shelter, utensils, furniture, tools, weapons, spirits for medicine and natural fuel for heating and cooking. The ancient Brehon law or “law of the land” lasted until the early 17th century, protecting trees, land and nature. It stipulated that cutting branches or felling a tree would result in the payment of compensation or a fine.
Τthe Tree of Life symbolized power, divine intelligence and the abundance of nature. The Éireannach or Irish people had a deep gratitude and respect for nature. They held sacred the immense power of mighty trees such as oaks, hemlocks and ash and their huge branches and their huge root systems that were under the trees and were mini ecological systems. The most sacred of trees was the oak or the “dair” in ancient Gaelic. It is believed that both the word druid and the modern word “door” come from this ancient Gaelic word. It was regarded as the door to heaven or the other world.
