The obverse of this exceptional coin shows the Notre-Dame Cathedral in its most representative form. Rather than settle for a rectangular shape faithful to the structure of the building, the Monnaie de Paris wanted to pay homage to the Gothic style of the cathedral. The reconstructed bell tower by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc fits perfectly with the dynamics of the design, revealing at the top the new statue of the rooster created during the reconstruction work. To pay tribute to the magnificence of the Notre-Dame windows, a gold enamel insert has been inserted at its top, so that its iridescent light radiates over the cathedral.
The second side leads us inside the cathedral. With a view of the vaulted ceiling, the frame of Notre-Dame de Paris, the frame here is a faithful representation of the new frame of the Gothic cathedral, which was rebuilt identically and with the same craftsmanship as the original frame of the building. The nominal value of this coin is inscribed on the facade of the cathedral, as is the year of commemoration of the reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris to the public.
