€2, BU & PIN Greece, 150 YEARS SINCE THE BIRTH OF KONSTANTINOS KARATHODORIS, GREECE 2023
Konstantinos Karatheodoris (Berlin, September 13, 1873 – Munich, February 2, 1950) was a Greek mathematician who distinguished himself on a global scale. Karatheodoris was known outside Greece as Constantin Carathéodory and is often referred to as Karatheodoris. His scientific work extends across various fields of Mathematics, Physics, and Archaeology. He made significant contributions, particularly in the fields of real analysis, functional analysis, and measure and integration theory. Most of his works were written in German, following his education by Alexandros Tsolakis.
The pin depicts the fundamental element in the formulation of the second law of thermodynamics according to Carathéodory, where dxi are the differentials of n independent variables x (xi = x1, ….., xn) and Υi are continuous functions of the variables x. The equations of this form are known as linear differential forms or Pfaffian forms. Then, their geometric characteristics are briefly explored primarily.
