Before becoming President of the United States, John F. Kennedy was already known as a war hero for saving a comrade’s life in the Pacific during World War II. In 1961, at the age of 43, he became the youngest president ever elected in U.S. history. Additionally, he was also the first Catholic president of the U.S. Born in Massachusetts, Kennedy was assassinated in 1963.
