The 2021 Lithuanian 2 euro collectible series is dedicated to the Žuvintas Lake biosphere region, a globally recognized wetland that is part of UNESCO’s Man and the Biosphere Programme.
The stunning depiction of the lake, with its islands, rich birdlife, and unique flora, transports the collector to the heart of Lithuanian nature. The detailed representation of the aquatic warbler and the red-backed shrike, as well as cranes and the mute swan, highlights the importance of species and habitat conservation.
The coin, designed by Eglė Ratkutė and Ernestas Žemaitis, features the inscriptions LIETUVA, ŽUVINTAS, UNESCO, and the year of issue, while the outer ring is adorned with the 12 stars of the European flag.
