The coin depicts an ancient Greek helmet, similar to that of Leonidas. Around the perimeter, the words “2500 years from the Battle of Thermopylae” and “Hellenic Republic” are inscribed. The theme is surrounded by a decorative meander pattern. To the left of the helmet, the anthemion (the symbol of the Bank of Greece) and the year 2020 are displayed. The design is signed by the renowned designer G. Stamatopoulos.
