The €2 coin celebrates the fires of the summer solstice. The Summer Solstice Fire Festival was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List in 2015. A character, ‘Fallaire’, is in the center of the national face of the coin. He wields the ‘Falla’, a torch made of tree bark. Once lit, it rotates the torch to create large circles of flame.
