2 €, Colored, 50th Birthday of Grand Duke Henri of Luxembourg, 2005

Official commemorative colored 2 euro coin, weighing 8.4 grams with a diameter of 25.75 millimeters, issued by the National Mint of Luxembourg in 2005. This coin celebrates the 50th birthday of Grand Duke Henri, the 5th anniversary of his accession, and the centenary of the death of Grand Duke Adolphe. The coin features the effigy of Grand Duke Henri looking to the right, in front of Grand Duke Adolphe’s image. Above the portraits, the inscription ‘GRANDS-DUCS DE LUXEMBOURG’ is engraved, while below them, the names ‘HENRI’ with the year ‘*1955’ and ‘ADOLPHE’ with the year ‘†1905’ are inscribed. Around the coin’s edge, the 12 stars of the EU surround the design, placed between the letters of the word ‘LËTZEBUERG’ and the year of issue ‘2005’. To the left of the year, the letter ‘S’ is noted, and to the right, the mint mark.
