Manga (Japanese: 漫画‎, i.e. cartoons) are called, outside of Japan, Japanese comics. Within Japan, all comics of independent origin are called manga. Manga developed from the blending of ukiyo-e and Western drawing techniques, and reached their current form shortly after World War II. The most famous manga are shōnen, aimed at teenage boys with the most successful being the Dragon Ball, One Piece, Death Note, Naruto, Attack on Titan, etc.

Comics, also referred to as the ninth art[1] or graphic storytelling[2] (English: graphic storytelling),[3] are a form of visual art consisting of sequential images usually combined with text, the which as spoken speech is placed in text bubbles, as a description in captions, as a sound effect in a spiked bubble, etc. In comics there is a narrative sequence between the images.
