Baron Pierre de Coubertin, a French educator and historian, is widely recognized as the founder of the International Olympic Committee, the reviver and the father of the modern Olympic Games. Educated in England and America with an endless passion for sports, he founded the French Athletic Sports Union in 1887. As its secretary-general, he began to promote the idea of reviving the Olympic Games. After his death, his heart was transferred to Ancient Olympia, where it was buried in a stele known as the Pierre de Coubertin Monument.

Following his death, his heart was transferred to Ancient Olympia, where it was interred in a stele bearing the name Pierre de Coubertin Monument.
