Below the head, in a semicircular arrangement, the inscription ‘BOCCACCIO 1313 2013’ is displayed, and to the right, in a stacked layout, are the letters ‘R’ (the mint mark of the Rome Mint), ‘RI’ (the monogram of the Italian Republic), and ‘m’ (the monogram of the designer Roberto Mauri). This collectible coin presents a detailed portrait of Giovanni Boccaccio, turned three-quarters to the right, inspired by Andrea del Castagno’s fresco from around 1450 AD housed in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence. The lower part of the portrait features the inscription ‘BOCCACCIO 1313 2013’ in a semicircular design, with the letters ‘R’ (Rome Mint mark), ‘RI’ (Italian Republic monogram), and ‘m’ (designer Roberto Mauri’s monogram) on the right in a vertical sequence.
