Official commemorative colored 2 euro coin, weighing 8.5 grams with a diameter of 25.75mm, issued by Germany in 2013 to mark the 50th anniversary of the signing of the historic Elysee Treaty. The coin features the portraits of the personalities who signed the Elysee Treaty (then Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Konrad Adenauer and former President of the French Republic Charles de Gaulle), their signatures, and the words ’50 ANS JAHRE’ with the year ‘2013’ at the center. The Elysee Treaty was a friendship agreement between France and West Germany, signed by President Charles de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer on January 22, 1963, at the Elysee Palace in Paris. The signing of this treaty laid new foundations for the relationship between the two states and ended centuries of Franco-German rivalry.
