The coin features the portraits of the personalities who signed the Elysee Treaty (then Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Konrad Adenauer and former President of the French Republic Charles de Gaulle), their signatures, and the words ’50 ANS JAHRE’ with the year ‘2013’ at the center. The Elysee Treaty was a friendship pact between France and West Germany, signed by President Charles de Gaulle and Chancellor Konrad Adenauer on January 22, 1963, at the Elysee Palace in Paris, setting new foundations in the relations between the two states and ending centuries of Franco-German rivalry.
