Minted by the Royal Dutch Mint, the Utrecht Mint’s mark, Mercury’s caduceus, the Belgian mint master’s mark, the coat of arms of Herzele municipality, and the country code ‘BE’ are shown on the left. The designer’s initials ‘LL’ for Luc Luycx are inscribed on the right. A circle of small dots is formed on the inner part, and the coin’s perimeter features the 12 stars of the European Union.
