The Altamira Cave, located in Cantabria, Northern Spain, was accidentally discovered by a shepherd in 1868. The interior of the cave contains significant cave paintings depicting various animals and hunting scenes dating back 6,000 years. The cave is also referred to as the ‘Sistine Chapel of the Stone Age’.
