Above the rectangle, the year ‘2008’ is displayed, and below it the inscription ‘UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS’. Beneath the design, the name of the country is inscribed in its three official languages: ‘BELGIE – BELGIQUE – BELGIEN’. To the left and right of the design, the mint mark and the mint director’s privy mark are displayed, respectively. Around the coin’s edge, the 12 stars of the European Union are depicted.
